Warhawks Grind Out Home Win Against Christian Brothers

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball team (3-19; GSC: 3-13) defeated the Christian Brothers Lady Buccaneers (3-17: GSC: 0-14), 63–58, on Thursday evening at the AUM Athletics Complex.

First Quarter 
Auburn University at Montgomery opened the game strong, with Samya Brooks scoring the Warhawks' first four points on a pair of early baskets. Andie Flatgard followed with a score of her own to help AUM build early momentum. Brooks continued to assert herself offensively, knocking down both free throws before adding another basket to push the Warhawks further in front. AUM closed the quarter on a high note, as Tamora Brown connected from beyond the arc to give the Warhawks a 13–9 lead at the end of the first period. 

Second Quarter 
AUM continued to build its momentum in the second quarter, as Brown opened the period with a jumper before converting a free throw. Shelby McAllister followed with a layup and added a point at the line, keeping the Warhawks in control. Nevaeh Small created a second-chance opportunity by securing her own rebound and finishing inside, while McAllister later knocked down a pair of free throws. Tocarra Stagnaro added one from the line before Brooks scored on an assist from Flatgard, her third assist of the night. Brown closed the half by sinking two free throws, sending AUM into halftime with a 31–23 advantage. 

Third Quarter 
The Lady Buccaneers opened the third quarter with a nine-point run to erase the deficit and take a 32–31 lead. Jaden Toney answered at the line to knot the game at 32–32, but Christian Brothers briefly regained the advantage at 34–32. Samya Brooks responded by securing her own rebound and finishing inside, pushing AUM back in front, 36–34. The Warhawks continued to generate points at the free-throw line, as Brooks, Brown, and Small combined for six points from the stripe. The quarter concluded with the score deadlocked at 42–42 heading into the final period. 

Fourth Quarter 
Small opened the fourth quarter by knocking down a pair of free throws, before Brown buried a three-pointer, her eighth of the season, to keep AUM in front. Ameyah Gray followed with free throws to give the Warhawks a 49–47 edge, and Keziah Seay extended the lead with a jumper to make it 53–47. Flatgard found Brooks for two, and Small later connected on a jumper off another Flatgard assist as the Warhawks pushed ahead 60–56. The contest was sealed in the closing moments when Small secured a defensive rebound, lifting Auburn Montgomery to a 63–58 victory.

Notables 
Samya Brooks led the team with 18 points, hitting 7-of-13 from the field and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. 

Neveah Small contributed 12 points going 4-for-4 at the line, while grabbing 9 rebounds. 

Tamora Brown added 14 points, including 2-of-5 from three-point range and 7-of-9 from the free-throw line, with 3 assists. 

The Warhawks scored 24 points in the paint, and 27 points came from the bench. 

Auburn University at Montgomery led for 33:36 of the game, and the largest lead was 13 points.  

AUM finished 25-of-30 from the free throw line (83.3%), outscoring Christian Brothers by 12 points at the stripe. 

The Warhawks scored 21 points off turnovers, recording 11 steals.  

The game featured eight ties and four lead changes, with AUM securing the final lead late in the fourth quarter.
