MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) released its Week 5 edition of the NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll on Tuesday, with the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks softball team ranked No. 6 in the nation. AUM remains among the nation's elite programs, marking its fifth consecutive week inside the top 10 in the national poll.
Winning Week for the Warhawks
The Warhawks put together another strong week, finishing 4–1 overall and 2–1 in Gulf South Conference play while hosting a doubleheader against Spring Hill and a three-game conference series against Mississippi College over the weekend.
AUM opened the week with a pair of wins over Spring Hill, taking the first game 2–0 before erupting for a 9–3 victory in game two. The Warhawks then welcomed Mississippi College, earning a 7–0 win in the opener, falling 3–7 in game two, and bouncing back with a 3–0 shutout victory in the series finale to claim the series.
Defensively, the Warhawks remained steady in the field, finishing the week with a .960 fielding percentage while turning a double play and committing just six errors across five games.
Pitching Staff Shines
AUM's pitching staff continued to set the tone throughout the week, posting a 1.00 team ERA while allowing just 10 runs across five games.
Leading the charge was Reese Cauley, who delivered a remarkable week in the circle. The sophomore went 3–0 with three complete games and three shutouts, tossing 21.0 innings while allowing just 14 hits and striking out 10 batters.
Chelisa Newsome also picked up a victory for the Warhawks, making two starts and tossing 8.0 innings with four strikeouts. She limited opposing hitters to a .185 batting average while helping anchor the rotation during the conference series.
Out of the bullpen, Sydni Free provided effective relief in her appearance, throwing 2.1 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and recording a strikeout.
Alivia Messick also logged valuable innings during the week, appearing twice and helping bridge the gap for the Warhawks pitching staff.
Warhawks at the Plate
At the plate, the Warhawks offense was firing on all cylinders, hitting .319 as a team with 38 hits and 24 runs scored across the five games.
Rebecca Komers led the way offensively, batting .462 with six hits, five runs scored, a double, and a triple, while also drawing four walks to post a .588 on-base percentage. Her consistency at the plate helped set the tone for AUM's lineup throughout the week.
Karris Rhine was also productive at the plate. She recorded four hits, three runs scored, and three RBIs, while adding a double and playing clean defense in the field.
Several other Warhawks contributed key hits during the week. Gracie Suggs batted .444 with four hits and a double, while Gabbi Barnowsky added four hits and three runs scored with a triple. Jasmine Sneed drove in four RBIs during the week, also hitting a triple. Cauley contributed at the plate, hitting .429 with a home run, showing her impact on both sides of the game.

The Warhawks will be back in action on Friday, March 13 for a series against GSC competitor, Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tennessee, with the first pitch set for noon.
