MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Auburn University at Montgomery has named Alex Bridges the women's soccer assistant coach.
"It's an exciting day for women's soccer here at AUM with the hiring of our new assistant coach," head women's soccer coach John Robertson said. "With this opportunity I had to add to our coaching staff, my number one goal was to find a hard-working, hungry individual who possesses a passion for the game and holds an ambition to grow personally, while maintaining the highest levels of loyalty, character, and integrity at all times."
Bridges arrives in Montgomery following a successful stint at the University of Texas, where he most recently served as an assistant coach from May 2024 through November 2025. During his time in Austin, he helped guide the Longhorns to their first ever SEC Championship and played a key role in the development of the 2024 senior class, which saw 10 student-athletes sign professional contracts.
"Being part of a staff that helped deliver Texas' first SEC Championship was an unforgettable experience," Bridges said, "but what meant the most was watching 10 players from our 2024 class earn the opportunity to play professionally."
Prior to his assistant coaching role, Bridges served as a graduate assistant at Texas from August 2022 to May 2024. During that span, the Longhorns captured the 2023 Big XII Tournament Championship and the 2022 Big XII Regular Season Championship.
Throughout his time at Texas, Bridges played an integral role in player development, including practice planning, skill enhancement, match preparation, academic accountability, and community engagement initiatives. He worked closely with goalkeepers over a four-year span, overseeing individual training sessions and matchday preparation.
"The combination of ambition and integrity is hard to find, and with this hire, I have found exactly that," Robertson said. "Not to mention Alex's Power Four, Division I championship-winning experience. I could not be more thrilled to have Alex Bridges join my staff as we embark on this journey to rebuild the program. The future is bright!"
Bridges also helped coordinate recruiting efforts that resulted in the No. 6 nationally ranked recruiting class in 2025. His responsibilities included assisting with official and unofficial visits, performing data analytics for opponent scouting and team performance, and ensuring adherence to NCAA, conference, ARMS, and institutional compliance guidelines.
In addition to his on-field coaching duties, Bridges performed data analytics for opponent scouting and team performance, team travel logistics, and assisted with special events alongside athletic administration staff.
Outside of the collegiate ranks, Bridges has served as an assistant coach with FC Westlake in Austin since January 2024, where he has created individualized development plans, led team training sessions across multiple skill levels, and provided mentorship to players both on and off the field.
A former collegiate student-athlete, Bridges played at Concordia University Texas from 2015–19, gaining firsthand experience in player development and team culture that continues to shape his coaching philosophy.
Bridges earned a Master of Education in Sports Management from the University of Texas in May 2024. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Physical Therapy at Concordia University Texas in 2018.
