MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks women's soccer team (0-0-1) opened the 2026 season with a 1-1 draw against the Emory Eagles (0-0-1) on Thursday evening at the AUM Soccer Stadium in the collegiate debut of head coach John Robertson. 

HOW IT HAPPENED  

First Half 
The Eagles struck first in the 18th minute, as Kaitlyn Nimmer found the back of the net to give the Eagles an early 1-0 advantage. 

The Warhawks' defense kept Emory from extending its lead. Freshman goalkeeper, Leslie Azouer, kept AUM within one, making four saves in the first 45 minutes. 

Second Half 
The orange and black wasted no time responding after halftime, as freshman Eva Hendriks found the back of the net in the 48th minute off an assist from Chloe Wallace to even the score at 1-1. 

AUM continued to pressure the Eagles throughout the second half, recording five shots and putting two on goal. Azouer came up big once again, making five saves in the period to keep Emory off the scoreboard. 

Neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in the closing minutes, as AUM held Emory scoreless throughout the second half to earn a 1-1 draw in the season opener. 

Notables 

• Eva Hendriks scored her first goal of the season, while Chloe Wallace recorded her first assist of the year. 

• Azouer recorded nine saves on 10 shots on goal from Emory. 

• The Warhawks finished the match with seven shots, including three on goal. 

• AUM's defense held Emory scoreless throughout the second half despite the Eagles recording 11 shots in the period. 

• The draw marked the collegiate debut of head coach John Robertson.
