Warhawks Dominate UAH in GSC Doubleheader to Clinch Series Victory

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 6 Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks softball team (25-4, GSC: 10-4) dominated its Gulf South Conference doubleheader with the UAH Chargers (21-12, GSC: 7-7) securing the series win with a tight 2-1 victory the first game and an impressive 6-2 finish to finalize the second game.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game #1 AUM 2, UAH 1

Both sides remained at a stalemate until the sixth inning, where the Chargers took initiative to be the first to score a run. With the help of a single to center field, the pitch runner, Alyssa Butts, scored, the UAH taking a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Jasmine Sneed kicked off the inning with a single to center field. Chloe Baynes then followed with a walk, which advanced Sneed to second base. Both players moved 60 feet on a wild pitch shortly after. Gabbi Barnowsky struck out swinging and was thrown out at first, which prompted Sneed to attempt to advance home, resulting in another out, leaving Baynes to advance to third. With two outs, Rebecca Komers homered, plating herself and Baynes, claiming the Warhawks two runs to secure the win.

Throughout the seven innings pitched, Reese Cauley only allowed two hits, one run, and tallied nine strikeouts.
