MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery women's tennis team picked up a strong 5-2 victory over Gulf South Conference opponent Delta State at the AUM Tennis Complex. The Warhawks controlled the match early and carried that momentum through singles play to secure the home win. 

Doubles 
AUM swept all three doubles courts to take the early 1-0 lead. At No. 1, the nationally ranked duo of No. 16 Melissa Yakup Pour and No. 30 doubles partner Nagisa Yonezawa set the tone with a convincing 6-1 win over Trinity Ly and Amelia Ciesielczyk. 

Allison Blanco and Mercedes Garcia Cid followed with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles against Lena Kuehn and Angie Moreno, putting the Warhawks in position to secure the point. Sofia Neri and Valeria Garcia Chavez then closed out doubles play with a 6-3 win at No. 2 over Anastasi Iakovlieva and Yasmina Mayer, completing the sweep for AUM. 

Singles 
Allison Blanco extended the Warhawks' lead early in singles, earning a dominant 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 5 over Lena Kuehn. Mercedes Garcia Cid followed shortly after with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3 against Yasmina Mayer, extending the lead to 3-0. 

Delta State responded with a point at No. 2 singles, where Amelia Ciesielczyk defeated Sofia Neri. The Warhawks answered at the top of the lineup as Yakup Pour delivered a strong 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 1 over Trinity Ly to clinch the match for AUM. 

The visitors added another point at No. 4, where Nagisa Yonezawa fell in a tightly contested three-set tiebreaker to Anastasi Iakovlieva (2-6, 7-6, 9-11). Valeria Garcia Chavez rounded out the day with a gritty 6-4, 5-7, 10-7 win at No. 6 over Angie Moreno, sealing the 5-2 final for the Warhawks.

The AUM tennis team will remain at home to battle against Mississippi College on Sunday, March 22, at the AUM Tennis Complex at 10 am.
