COACH WILKES LANEY'S COMMENTS
"Today was a good day for AUM softball. I love that we were able to get two wins, but we were also able to give a lot of people opportunities that they may not get very often. It was a team effort today and proud that we took care of business."

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game #1 AUM 2, SHC 0
Both sides began the day with one, two, three innings, taking us to the bottom of the second frame where the Warhawks would strike first.
Â
Kennedy Sevcik was the first on base for AUM as she singled to center field. As the next to bat,
Reese Cauley singled to third base to place two runners on. This set up
Gabbi Barnowsky's at-bat where she reached on a fielding error by the Badgers' shortstop. This allowed runners to advance, scoring Cauley and Sevick.
Gracie Suggs would then be called out at third base to end the inning, leaving both runs unearned due to the error.
Over the final five innings, Cauley allowed no more than one hit per inning and finished strong, retiring the side in the top of the seventh to secure the 2-0 win for the Warhawks.

Game #2 AUM 9, SHC 3
Chelisa Newsome opened game two by retiring the first three batters in Spring Hill's lineup. Baynes led off for AUM in the bottom of the frame, striking a base hit up the middle. Komers followed with a well-placed bunt, setting two runners on base. Baynes used her speed to swipe third base and Komers advanced to second on the throw. Rhine was the next to bat and ripped an RBI single through the left side, plating Baynes. Sevcik then grounded out, but not without completing Komers' trip around the diamond. A
Chloe Hollon sacrifice fly would score Rhine and put the orange and black ahead 3-0 after the first inning.
Â
Newsome handled four batters in the top of the second inning to keep the Badgers off the board, setting up another big frame for the Warhawks' offense.
Gabbi Barnowsky railed a triple to right field to be the first on base before
Jasmine Sneed matched her triple and allowed Barnowsky to score. As the next batter, Baynes would single to left field, bringing home Sneed. A walk from Komers, a single from Rhine, and Sevcik's fielders choice would set up
Chloe Hollon's RBI single to left field, scoring Komers.
Whitney Wells continued to keep the pressure on Spring Hill's defense as she knocked a base hit to center field and scored both Sevcik and Rhine to put AUM ahead 8-0.
Â
The visitors' Abigail Christ hit a double in the third inning, later scoring on Janci Aube's ground out, putting the Badgers on the board.
Â
Spring Hill would prevent the run rule with a pair of scores in the fourth inning, however,
Shelby Morgan added a run in the sixth inning to make the score 9-3.
Â
A scoreless top of the seventh ended game two with the orange and black in front 9-3.
