MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Auburn University at Montgomery baseball team (11-37; GSC: 6-27) closed out its 2026 season with a 10-0 loss to the Montevallo Falcons (27-23; GSC: 18-15) on Saturday at Kermit A. Johnson Field at Bob Riesener Stadium, as the game was concluded after eight innings.
Through the first two innings, both teams were held scoreless with AUM recording two hits and leaving two runners on base, while the Falcons tallied one hit and stranded two.
The Warhawks threatened in the top of the third, putting together back-to-back singles from Chance Sweeney and Brice Ainsworth to put runners in scoring position. However, Montevallo worked out of the jam to keep the game scoreless.
Montevallo put the first points on the board in the bottom of the third, plating three runs on one hit, taking a 3-0 lead. The Falcons added another run in the sixth to extend the lead to 4-0.
Montevallo created separation in the seventh inning, scoring three more runs on two hits, and pushed the advantage to 7-0.
In the eighth, Montevallo added three additional runs, highlighted by an RBI double and a triple to right center, to bring the score to its final 10-0 margin.
Notables
Left fielder, Landon Baeder went 1-for-4 at the plate
Christopher McNeill finished 1-for-4, while also recording four putouts and an assist defensively in center field.
Liam Gilbert went 1-for-3 and handled six putouts at first base.
Chance Sweeney added a 1-for-3 performance, while Brice Ainsworth went 1-for-2 to contribute to AUM's five-hit effort.
