No. 8 Softball Shuts Out Trojans in Regular Season Finale

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 8 Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks softball team (41-9, GSC: 24-9) won its series against the Trevecca Nazarene Trojans (19-18, GSC: 14-18) with a 9-0 shutout win in the series finale.
 
COACH WILKES LANEY'S COMMENTS
"Hard to believe the regular season is done, but 41-9 is a pretty dang good regular season. This team has worked really hard to compete at a high level, and they have done that. I look forward to what's next - post season!"
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Kennedy Sevcik got things started in the second inning when she drilled an RBI-double to left field to score Reese Cauley who worked a walk earlier in the frame.
 
Gabbi Barnowsky singled in the third before Olivia Watkins stepped up to the plate and launched a two-run bomb over the left field wall to put AUM up 3-0.
 
The Warhawks blew the game open in the top of the fourth inning, scoring six runs on six hits. The offensive surge was made possible with singles from Karris Rhine, Chloe Baynes, and Barnowsky, along with doubles from Komers and Watkins and Sevcik's two-run longball.
 
AUM's defense was able to keep Trevecca off the board in the bottom of the fifth, resulting in a 9-0 five-inning victory for the Warhawks, securing the series win.
 
NOTABLES
  • Reese Cauley improves to 26-2 after tossing 4.2 scoreless innings of work while giving up just one hit with six punches and one walk.
  • Kennedy Sevcik went 2-for-2 at the plate with three RBI and a run. She tallied her third homer and sixth double of the season.
  • Olivia Watkins recorded two hits in three at-bats with three RBI and a run. Her homer in the third inning marked her sixth of the season.
  • The Warhawks hit six extra-base hits on the day while outing hitting their opponents 10-1.

UP NEXT
The Warhawks have been tabbed the No. 3 seed in the 2026 GSC Championship. They will play in the first game of the tournament, facing No. 6 UAH on Wednesday, May 6 at Choccolocco Park in Oxford, Ala.
