MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Auburn University at Montgomery Director of Athletics Erik Maas has announced the hiring of Tee Neely as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, Friday.
 
Neely brings more than a decade of experience to the capital city after most recently serving in the same capacity at Jacksonville State University.
 
"We're excited to welcome Tee and his family to AUM," said Maas. "His experience at both the Division I and Division II levels, and his familiarity with the Gulf South Conference, makes him an outstanding addition to our department. As we continue to evolve, adding someone with Tee's background strengthens our administrative team and positions us well for the future."
 
Beginning August 3rd, Neely will oversee all compliance operations for AUM Athletics. Associate Athletic Director for Internal Operations/SWA Amber Rae Childers will continue leading the department's internal unit and expand her responsibilities to include the day-to-day business operations following the recent retirement of longtime Administrative Associate Sue Terino.
 
"Amber Rae has done an outstanding job overseeing several critical areas within our department," Maas said. "Her leadership has been instrumental to our success, and this alignment gives us the structure to continue building a championship-caliber department on and off the field."
 
Since 2023, Neely has worked in progressive roles within the JSU Athletics compliance office, culminating in oversight of all compliance-related responsibilities for its 18 varsity programs and more than 285 student-athletes. With the Gamecocks, he also served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee staff representative.

Neely brings prior Gulf South Conference experience to Montgomery, having spent nearly three years at Christian Brothers University from 2021-23, where he served as the Director of Student-Athlete Success and Compliance Coordinator. Neely managed a caseload of more than 275 student-athletes as an academic advisor, authored the department's first Student-Athlete Academic Success Program, and provided comprehensive compliance oversight for the Bucs' 18 varsity sports. Before transitioning to athletics, Neely served in admissions and advising roles at CBU from 2019-21.
 
In 2016, Neely launched his professional career as a College Counselor at Freedom Preparatory Academy High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He also coached Freedom Prep's rugby team, leading the squad to consecutive third-place finishes at the state championships in 2016 and 2017.
 
Neely's experience in collegiate athletics began in 2014 with academic advising and compliance roles at the University of Richmond and the University of Memphis, first as a graduate assistant and later as a postgraduate intern, where he mentored student-athletes and assisted with compliance-related tasks. 
 
A Birmingham native, Neely earned a master's degree from VCU in 2015 and a bachelor's degree from Sewanee: The University of the South in 2012.
