Brock Moss enters his second season as the assistant baseball coach for the Auburn University at Montgomery Warhawks baseball program after helping AUM to a record-setting season in 2024.

AUM earned its first-ever berth into the NCAA South Regional tournament as the No. 5 seed in the NCAA South Region I bracket. An at-large selection for postseason play, the Warhawks secured the program’s first South Regional victory with a 9-8 win over Savannah State in a 10-inning thriller.

AUM also earned the school’s first win in the GSC tournament since joining the NCAA Division II ranks as a full-time member ahead of the 2019-2020 academic year. The Warhawks erased a two-run deficit in the sixth with four unanswered runs to score an 8-6 win over Shorter University.

The Warhawks soared to the team’s highest win total (15) at home since the 2022 campaign and turned in the first winning record (15-12) away from Q.V. Lowe Field since 2019.

AUM went 32-24 overall on the year and 20-10 in conference play, including seven wins over teams ranked or receiving votes in a national poll. The Warhawks won eight of their 10 series in league action, including series wins at Valdosta State, at Shorter, and against West Florida. AUM also secured a non-conference series win against Embry-Riddle and wins over Georgia Southwestern (twice), Alabama-Huntsville, and Columbus State away from league action.

The 2024 campaign saw AUM ranked or receive votes in the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) South Region Poll for 13 straight weeks. The Warhawks also garnered national recognition in the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Top 30 poll by being ranked or receiving votes for seven consecutive weeks, including the program's highest-ever ranking (No. 21) in the April 22 release of the poll.

Under Moss' tutelage, pitcher Ryan Slaten earned Second Team All-GSC honors, while reliever Brett Pitts was one of the top relievers in the GSC. Slaten posted a 4-4 overall record in 18 appearances, with nine starts, one complete game, and one save. Slaten struck out 41 batters against 26 walks in 66 total innings and logged seven appearances allowing one earned run or less.

Pitts, meanwhile, ranked second on the team with 19 relief appearances and tied for the team lead with three saves. He posted a 2.44 earned run average with 45 strikeouts in 44.1 innings of work...walked 16 hitters and allowed just 12 earned runs. Pitts struck out three or more hitters in an outing eight times, including three games with six strikeouts or more.

Pitts sported a 1-0 record with two saves and a 1.93 ERA in nine appearances against GSC competition. He struck out 25 hitters in 23.1 innings with just eight walks in league action. He posted seven outings in which he did not allow an earned run against GSC foes and gave up just one run in 6.2 innings against teams ranked or receiving votes in national polls.

Moss comes to the capital city after spending the last year as the head baseball coach at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Okla., where he guided the Mountaineers to a runner-up finish in the conference tournament and had nine players earn NJCAA All-Region honors in Region II. In his lone year with the program, Moss' squad had players littered throughout the region's top five in a variety of categories including stolen bases, runners caught stealing, earned run average, strikeouts, and saves.

Moss enters his 12th season in college coaching this spring. Before his time at Eastern Oklahoma State College, Moss was the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at Georgia Highlands College from 2016 to 2020 before moving on to NCAA DII Texas A&M International of the Lonestar Conference.

While at Georgia Highlands, Moss was responsible for turning in five Perfect Game National Top 35 recruiting classes, including three class inside the Top 20. Under Moss' watchful eye, GHC became one of the top junior college programs in the country, winning multiple conference regular-season and conference tournament championships. The program also notched its highest national ranking in school history at No. 11 in that span.

In his time with the Chargers, Moss coached 15 GCAA all-conference members, the program's first-ever GCAA Player of the Year, first All-American, and the highest-ever drafted player in program history, RHP Noah Bryant (17th round). His teams regularly put together team ERAs under 3.00 and he also coached a GCAA Pitcher of the Year, multiple gold glove award winners, and seven GCAA all-tournament selections.

Moss' teams have also succeeded in the classroom as well as the field. While at Georgia Highlands, his teams posted a 3.11 GPA in the four-year span he was coaching there. He has also seen teams post a 3.0 GPA or better at Texas A&M International and Coastal Alabama East CC.

Moss has also been active on the summer ball circuit, with coaching stops in four summers in collegiate summer leagues. In summer ball, Moss has led his teams to four regular-season championships and three league postseason championship games. His 2019 Strasburg Express team (Valley League) saw eight members of the team move on to professional baseball, including two top 10 rounders (Sonny Dicharia, 5th round & Griffin Cheney, 9th round) in the 2022 MLB draft.

As a player, Moss began his career at Morton College (NJCAA) before finishing his career at Sterling College (NAIA) where, as a two-way player for each institution, he helped both teams reach the postseason each year, including a 2013 NAIA World Series appearance at Sterling.

Moss owns a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Sterling College and a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Coaching from Greenville University.
