Kris Seigenthaler is in her first season as assistant coach for the Auburn Montgomery women’s basketball team. She joined the Warhawks in June of 2016 after three seasons as assistant coach at former conference rival Faulkner University.
Seigenthaler’s responsibilities include scouting, recruiting, strength and condition and travel arrangements.
In her first season with the team, she helped the program to the first win of the NCAA Division II era against Georgia Southwestern, while also playing a key role in victories over future Gulf South Conference foes West Alabama and Montevallo. Her hard work with the Warhawks earned her a spot on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Thirty Under 30.
Seigenthaler helped Faulkner to a 45-45 record in her three seasons, including a 17-13 mark in 2013-14. During that season, the Eagles achieved the highest ranking in school history (No. 14) and posted a team grade point average of 3.14. The team also achieved a 3.2 or better team GPA in her other two seasons.
While with the Eagles, Seigenthaler played a key role in the academic progress of the team, as she reviewed academic performance, developed study hall and tutorial plans, and served as an academic counselor for the student-athletes. She also developed a social media plan for the team's platforms and was the coordinator of Faulkner's community service initiatives, including the Eagles award-winning Play 4Kay efforts in 2014 and 2016.
On the court, she coached the Eagles' guards and was in charge of player development, provided scouting reports and assisted with game strategy, served as a strength training coach, organized and conducted summer camps, managed film exchange and coordinated travel for the program. She was also instrumental in recruiting, where she coached a pair of NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans.
Prior to joining the Eagles, Seigenthaler spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Shorter University in Rome, Ga. In her two seasons, the Hawks advanced to the first NAIA Sweet 16 in school history, before continuing their transition in the NCAA Division II process her final season. She earned her master's degree in leadership from Shorter in 2013.
A 2011 graduate from the University of Montevallo with a degree in kinesiology, Seigenthaler lettered for the Falcons for four years. As a senior, she was selected a team captain and was named to the Gulf South Conference Honor Roll as a freshman. She was also one of 65 student-athletes from across the nation chosen to participate in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's "So You Want to be a Coach" program following her senior season.
