The Auburn University at Montgomery women's basketball program announced the hiring of Steve Kenner as interim head women's basketball coach on May 24, 2022.
Kenner served as the assistant coach last season under then-head coach Sean Page, who resigned to accept a front office basketball role in his home country of Australia, prior to be named interim head coach.
Kenner comes to AUM from Pratt Community College in Pratt, Kan., where he served as head coach in 2020-21.
Kenner, who coached at the DME Sports Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida, before taking over at Pratt, has accumulated an 18-year track record that includes head coaching experience at Southeastern Illinois College (Harrisburg, Ill.) and Emory & Henry College (Emory, Va.).
While at DME, Kenner served as an assistant coach for the facility's first-level post-graduate team, and a head coach for the second-level group. Prior to his time in Daytona Beach, Kenner was the head coach of the Southeastern Illinois College's women's basketball program, where he manned the sideline from 2017-19.
As the head coach of the Falcons, Kenner aided in the development of NJCAA All-American, 2018 Great Rivers Athletic Conference Player of the Year, and 2018 Freshman of the Year Shamari Tyson. Kenner, who posted a record of 22-10 in his final season with the Falcons in 2019, was an assistant on the Falcons' staff in 2016 before taking over the head coaching position.
Kenner's coaching resume includes stops at institutions such as Belmont Abbey College, Emory & Henry College, University of North Carolina-Pembroke, St. Andrews Presbyterian College, and the University of South Carolina-Upstate.
