TROY, Ala. ------ Four players scored in double figures, but the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team could not overcome a 15-point halftime deficit, as it fell to Division I Troy University, 84-65, Thursday at Trojan Arena.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Sophomore
Desmond DeRamus led all players with a game-high 19 points. He added five assists, three steals and two rebounds.
• Senior
Romoane Eager scored 15 points and pulled down a team-best nine rebounds for the Warhawks. He added a pair of blocks, a steal and an assist.
• Fellow senior
Julius McCoy came off the bench and scored 13 points, hitting 3-of-5 from behind the arc.
• Junior
Jarett Croff chipped in 10 points and grabbed six rebounds.
• Freshman
Darrion Taylor hit a pair of 3-pointers, scoring six points in 16 minutes.
• Wesley Person scored a team-high 18 points to lead four Trojans in double figures.
• DeVon Walker chipped in 14 points, nine rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals for the Trojans.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM took its only lead of the game when Taylor hit a trey with 19:37 remaining in the opening period for a 3-0 lead.
• After a layup by Croff pulled the Warhawks to within 13-7 with 16:20 left in the first half, Troy used an 11-0 run and put the game out of reach. Eager stopped the spurt with a bucket with 11:33 remaining before the half.
• AUM pulled to within nine points on a pair of occasions, including at the 5:29 mark, when a trey by McCoy cut the deficit to 32-23.
• The Trojans closed the half with a 14-6 spurt and took a 46-29 lead to the locker room.
• The Warhawks scored the first eight points of the second half and trimmed the margin to 46-37 following a layup by Croff with 15:45 remaining.
• Troy again gained completed control with a 16-7 run during the next five minutes to up the lead to 18, 62-44, with 9:11 to play.
• AUM closed the gap to as few as 12 points down the stretch, but were unable to get any closer.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM converted 20-of-60 shots from the floor, including 11-of-28 from behind the arc.
• Troy finished 29-of-62 from the field (46.8 percent), including 10-of-26 from distance.
• The Trojans controlled the paint, outscoring the Warhawks 34-16 inside.
• The Warhawks scored 11 points off 11 Troy turnovers, while committing 14 miscues in the contest.
• Troy posted a 40-36 advantage on the glass, but AUM grabbed 12 offensive rebounds versus Troy's 10.

The Warhawks will open their regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 15, when they travel to Americus, Ga., to take on Georgia Southwestern State University at 6:30 p.m.
