DALLAS--- Former Auburn Montgomery men's basketball standout LeShaun Murphy has signed a contract with the Garland Hoyas of the American Basketball Association to play this season.

Murphy was a two-year starter for the Warhawks and earned Second-Team All-Southern States Athletic Conference honors last season. He averaged 15.1 points per game and shot 43.9 percent from the floor, while adding 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.8 steals per game. In his two seasons, Murphy averaged 13.8 points per game, 4.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

The Maywood, Ill., native enjoyed a one of his best performances against Coastal Georgia last season, when he scored a career-best 34 points. Murphy led the Warhawks in scoring on six other occasions and scored 20 or more points in seven games.

During his final season, Murphy was selected one of 16 college basketball dunkers to participate in the Dark Horse Dunker competition. The Dark Horse Dunker competition provided an opportunity for small-college players who were "under the radar" to compete against players from the major Division I schools in a fan-voting contest.

He was also selected to compete in the NABC-NAIA Dunk Contest, held in conjunction with the 2015 Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championship in Kansas City, Mo. In the competition, Murphy finished second, just one point behind champion Jamaal Thomas from Lewis-Clark State.
