Powell Hurls No-Hitter in NAIA Softball World Series

SIOUX CITY, Iowa ------ The No. 2 ranked and No. 2 seeded Auburn Montgomery softball team defeated No. 10 seeded Webber International University in the 36th annual NAIA Softball World Series 8-0 in five innings, as senior Taylor Powell hurled her second career no-hitter.

• The Warriors fell to 31-15 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM scored first in the bottom of the opening inning after a double off the fence from Dishman that scored Persinger. Dishman's 12th double of the year gave the Warhawks an early 1-0 lead.
• After the leadoff for the Warriors walked, a rain delay was called. After an hour and forty-four-minute wait, the game resumed in the second. Powell retired the next three batters to hold the 1-0 lead.
• AUM added an additional run in the bottom of the second on a Persinger single to center that plated Schmidt. Persinger currently has 39 RBIs on the year.
• Neither team scored in the third inning, but AUM exploded for five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Persinger doubled to center that scored Thomas, and Powell knocked in both Persinger and Jenkins to give the Warhawks a 5-0 lead. A Dishman double plated Krueger, and a Hale single brought Dishman around to give AUM a 7-0 lead after four.
• Angulo led off the fifth inning with a walk, and a Jenkins double advanced her to third. With one out, Persinger hit a sacrifice fly to score Angulo, which ended the game and gave the Warhawks the 8-0 victory.
