MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- The duo of
Grace Farnsworth and
Kaylan Withrow combined for 50 points and 10 3-pointers to lead the Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team past Montevallo 82-70 Monday at the AUM Gymnasium.
NOTES
• AUM improved to 3-14 on the year.
• Montevallo fell to 3-6 on the season.
• The Warhawks have won consecutive home games for the first time this season.
• With the victory, the Warhawks avenged a 63-58 loss at Montevallo earlier this year.
• Farnsworth bettered her previous career-high of 21 points, set twice earlier this season (vs. West Florida on 11/27; at Montevallo on 12/10).
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Farnsworth finished with a career-high 27 points, hitting 10-of-17 shots, including 4-of-6 from distance, en route to the career-best effort. She added seven rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists.
• Withrow moved into ninth place on the all-time scoring list by scoring 23 points, 18 of which came from behind the arc. She has now hit 301 career 3-pointers, becoming the first AUM player to eclipse the 300-make plateau. She is five points shy of moving into seventh all time in scoring.

Nadia Stewart contributed 11 points, six assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
•
Tyra Caudle finished with nine points and seven rebounds, five of which came on the offensive end.

Shanna Strain recorded a balanced stat line of five points, six rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.

Chandler Sutton dished out four assists and did not commit a turnover in 14 minutes of play.
•
Danielle Gaines-Jordan scored two points, but pulled down six rebounds off the bench to spark the Warhawks.
• Ashley Dunstan scored a team-high 14 points for the Falcons. She added five rebounds, two blocks and two assists.
• Rayvon Christian (12), Jazmine Stubblefield (11) and Albanellys Perez (10) also scored in double figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Warhawks scored the first six points of the game on treys by Strain and Stewart, en route to opening the game with a 14-3 run. AUM opened the contest by hitting six of its first eight 3-point attempts, capped by a trey by
Anastasia Evans with 4:06 remaining in the quarter, giving the Warhawks a 22-5 lead. AUM led by as many as 18 in the first quarter, before finishing the quarter with a 27-14 advantage.
• The Falcons scored the first seven points of the second quarter and pulled to within six points, 27-21, on a layup by D'Miyah Foster with 7:46 remaining in the second quarter. AUM answered with a 10-4 run, capped by a Withrow trey, and took a 37-25 lead with 5:03 left before halftime. The Warhawks held a 41-27 lead following a layup by Farnsworth with 2:13 to play, but the Falcons closed the half with a 9-1 spurt and trailed just 46-38 at halftime.
• Following a layup by Caudle with 8:05 remaining in the third quarter, the Warhawks led 46-38, but the Falcons used a 12-2 run and took a 50-48 lead on two Perez free throws with 5:37 to play in the quarter. Despite surrendering the lead, the Warhawks closed the half by scoring the final 13 points, including four by Farnsworth, and took a 61-50 to the fourth quarter.
• In the fourth quarter, the Falcons closed the gap to within six points, 73-67, on a basket by Christian with 2:09 play. However, the Warhawks closed the contest with a 9-3 spurt to provide the final margin.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks converted 29-of-66 shots, including 13-of-33 from behind the arc in the contest. AUM also hit 11-of-15 free throws.
• The Falcons also shot the ball well, hitting 42.4 percent of their shots, but just 5-of-19 from 3-point range. Montevallo finished 9-of-11 from the charity stripe.
• AUM committed 21 turnovers, leading to 17 points by the Falcons. The Warhawks forced 20 miscues and converted those to 19 points.
• For the first time this season, the Warhawks outrebounded an opponent, finishing with 44 rebounds, compared to 34 by the Falcons. AUM also held a 15-11 advantage on the offensive end, which led to a 13-9 lead in second-chance points.
• Montevallo's bench outscored the Warhawks 27-7.
• Entering the contest each averaging better than 13 points per game, the Warhawks held Montevallo's tandem of Morgan Smith and Haven Albright to just eight combined points.
