Women's GSC Championship Results
DANVILLE, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's cross country team finished the 2017 season on Saturday morning in the Gulf South Conference Championship at the Jesse Owens XC Course, finishing 12th.
NOTES
• All 14 Gulf South Conference schools competed in the league's championship.
• Lee University won the team title with 54 points.
• Montevallo's Katie Nelson was the first individual to cross the finish line with a 17:33.65 run.
INDIVIDUAL FINISHES
• Junior
Benisse Inamahoro posted a sub-20 5K run for the second time this season, crossing the finish line at the 19:41.8 mark to lead AUM and finish 42nd overall.
• Freshman
Victoria McCurry posted a personal-best 20:17.81 5K run to finish 60th.
• Senior
Katelynn Burns posted her fastest 5K of the season with a 20:39.59 outing to finish 68th.
• Junior
Tanishya Jones placed 77th with a 21:03.66 run.
• Junior
Ansley Story posted a season-best 21:22.57 5K run to finish 83rd
• Seniors
Kelly Dawson and
Brooke Schultz ended their collegiate careers with 21:36.06 and 22:19.22 outings to finish 87 and 96, respectively.
QUOTING THE COACH
"The girls ran well," head coach
Ryan Thompson said. "We had some strong performances from Victoria and Kelly. Tanishya bounced back from Florida State to run well. It was a great season and exciting getting to compete in the GSC Championship to gauge where we are and what we need to do over the next few years."
