TROY, Ala. – Junior guard/forward
Evelina Avleeva led both sides in points and rebounds in a double-double outing, but the Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team dropped a 79-54 decision to Troy in an exhibition contest on Wednesday evening at the Trojan Arena.
NOTES
• As an exhibition contest, the result and statistics do not count toward either teams season totals.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Avleeva recorded 21 points, going 7-16 from the floor and 4-10 from beyond the ark, with 11 rebounds to go with three assists.
• Junior guard/forward
Jemaiya Lee also eclipsed double-digits in scoring with 16 points, going 8-13 from the field.
• Sophomore forward
Regan Croff sparked the defense with three blocks and two steal while contributing a team-best four offensive rebounds with five defensive boards for nine total.
• Redshirt senior guard
Kyla Rooks dished out three assists.
• For Troy, Sky'Lynn scored 13 points, Amber Rivers grabbed 10 rebounds and Jasmine Robinson dished out nine assists with four steals to go with 11 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Troy ended the first quarter with a 15-5 lead, using an 11-0 run over a 3:54 span to create the double-digit advantage.
• AUM cut the deficit to single digits at 18-9 with a 4-0 spree after surrendering the opening three points of the second quarter. The two sides exchanged the ensuing 20 points before a 9-0 run by the hosts to end the half made it 37-19.
• AUM outscored Troy 18-15 in the third quarter, highlighted by a 7-0 run over 47 seconds to cut the separation down to 13 at 43-30. Troy responded to the rally with six-straight points, but the Warhawks ended the frame with seven of the final 10 points to make it 52-37 going into the fourth.
• The Trojans opened up the final fame with a 7-2 stretch to recreate a 20-point advantage, and prevented AUM from getting within 16 for the remainder of the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks finished 21-of-72 from the floor, including 7-of-20 from behind the arc.
• Troy converted on 33-110 shots from the field and 8-18 from distance.
• AUM committed 33 turnovers, resulting in 31 Troy points. The hosts committed nine turnovers, leading to four points.
• Troy held a slim 68-63 advantage in rebounds.
• The Trojans dished out 21 assists versus 14 for AUM.
