BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ten different players scored, led by junior guard/forward
Evelina Avleeva with a game-high 17 points, but the Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team dropped a 59-46 decision to NCAA Division I Samford Saturday afternoon at the Pete Hanna Center in an exhibition.

• The statistics and results from the contest did not count toward the AUM season totals.
• Samford improved to 4-6 on the year.

• Avleeva went 8-13 from the floor while recording four rebounds and three steals.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Samford took the lead on the opening possession of the contest with a layup, adding a triple to the lead before the Warahwks got on the scoreboard via a jumper by Avleeva to make it 5-2. The Bulldogs created a double-digit lead late in the frame off a 9-2 run to make it 14-4, but a jumper from Lee made it 14-6 going into the second quarter.
• Samford broke a scoreless second quarter with a triple, making it 17-6 with 8:20 remaining in the half. AUM responded with a 6-2 run to cut the deficit to seven, but back-to-back Samford buckets recreated the 11-point separation at 23-12. The two sides exchanged the final eight points of the half, keeping the gap at 11, 27-16.
• Both sides scored in the opening minute of the third quarter, with Samford connecting on a triple versus a jump shot for the Warhawks. Samford followed the initial exchange with an 8-2 run to create an 18-point lead at 38-20 before a 9-2 retort by AUM brought the separation back to 11 at 40-29. The Bulldogs ended the quarter with a triple, making it 43-29 going into the final 10 minutes.
• AUM began the final frame with five-straight points, making it a nine-point contest at 43-34 before a 13-2 response by the hosts created a 20-point advantage for Samford, 56-36. AUM ended the contest on a 10-3 run.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks converted on 21-52 shots.
• Samford finished 23-50 from the field, 10-19 from distance.
• AUM scored 26 points in the paint versus 22 for the hosts.
• AUM committed 15 turnovers, resulting in 19 Samford points. The Bulldogs committed 15 turnovers, leading to 16 points.

• The Warhawks bench scored 19 points while the host got 25 from its bench.
• AUM recorded six steals with four blocks while Samford stole the ball three times with one blocks.
