DeRamus and Croff Post Double-Doubles in Men’s Hoops Victory at Middle Georgia

COCHRAN, Ga. ----- Desmond DeRamus and Jarett Croff each recorded double-doubles to lead the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team past Middle Georgia 66-57 Monday evening.

NOTES
• The Warhawks improved to 6-18 on the season.
• The Knights fell to 11-12 overall.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• DeRamus finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds to pick up his fifth double-double of the season.
• Croff matched DeRamus with a team-best 14 points, but added a team-leading 12 rebounds to complete his fifth double-double on the year.
Romoane Eager finished one rebound shy of a double-double, contributing 13 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
Darrion Taylor recorded 12 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals in the contest.
• Kieston Standfield posted a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Knights.
• Roshaun Milline and Brandon Ingleton each scored 12 points for Middle Georgia.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Knights scored the first nine points of the contest, but the Warhawks tied the score at 10-10 on a Taylor trey with 11:56 remaining in the first half.
• AUM took a 12-10 advantage on a Michael Bryant basket with 11:37 remaining in the half and did not surrender the lead. The Warhawks held as much as a five-point advantage on four occasions, including at the half after Eager drained a trey with 1:02 left in the period. AUM led 29-24 at the intermission.
• The Warhawks opened the second half with a 7-0 run, behind a trey by DeRamus and buckets by Croff and Eager to extend their lead to 36-24.
• Despite the fast start to the half, AUM led by just four points, 46-42, with 10:59 to play, after Standfield sank a free throw. However, the Warhawks strung together an 11-7 spurt, capped by a trey by Julius McCoy with 5:24 left in regulation to up their lead to eight points, 57-49.
• AUM led by as many as 12 points down the stretch, 64-52, following a jumper by Eager with 46 seconds remaining, before settling for the nine point victory.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks finished 27-of-68 from the floor, including 9-of-29 from behind the arc. AUM attempted just eight free throws, converting three.
• The Knights were limited to just 29 percent from the field and 20 percent from distance. MGSU finished 11-of-18 from the charity stripe.
• AUM committed 16 turnovers, while forcing 13. Despite committing more miscues, the Warhawks held a 13-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
• The Warhawks dominated the boards, holding a 55-36 advantage on the glass. AUM held a 17-12 edge on the offensive end, leading to a 16-7 advantage in second chance points.
• AUM held a 30-16 advantage in the paint.

The Warhawks will return to action on Monday, February 20, when they host West Florida at 7 p.m.
