PENSACOLA, Fla. ----- The Auburn Montgomery baseball team fell to the University of West Florida on Wednesday evening with the final score line reading 8-0.
NOTES
• AUM falls to 2-5.
• West Florida improves to 4-4.
• It was the 23
rd all-time meeting between the two sides. The Argonauts now lead the all-time series 12-11.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Houston Davenport recorded a hit in three tries in the contest.
•
Hayden Friesen and
Donovan Chandler each tallied two free passes.
•
Tanner Russell accounted for the other Warhawk hit. He also drew a walk in the game.
•
Garrett Deloney started for Auburn Montgomery, lasting three innings and only allowing one base runner by way of base on balls.
•
Clay Gidley made his first appearance of the season, throwing a perfect inning.
• Justin Ambrosino recorded two hits (one of which being a home run) and four runs batted.
• Robert Lopez also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run and four RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• After three scoreless frames, the Argonauts broke the deadlock when Ambrosino launched a two-run shot over the left field fence. West Florida added another run in the inning.
• In the sixth inning, Lopez sent a pitch well over the left field fence to extend the lead to six.
• In the bottom of the seventh, the Argonauts tallied on two more runs to put the score at 8-0 in favor of West Florida.
• The Warhawks were unable to muster any offense and dropped the contest to future Gulf South foe West Florida.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Neither team recorded any errors in the contest.
• Auburn Montgomery stranded seven runners on base while the Argonauts stranded just three.
• Auburn Montgomery fell victim to one double play in the game.

The Warhawks will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 18, when they will travel to Young Harris College for a weekend series against the Mountain Lions. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
