HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the top of the first, Langley recorded his first hit in an AUM uniform when he launched a home run over the left field fence.
• A leadoff, first-pitch home run by Collier in the bottom of the first tied the contest. Spring Hill led 2-1 after the first inning.
• In the top of the sixth, Chandler laced a Kiene fastball down the right field line to start the inning. A Langley single then brought in Chandler. After a stolen base by Langley, Cosby roped a single into the outfield to give the Warhawks the first lead in the ballgame.
• In the bottom of the sixth, a strikeout by
Hank Scott stranded three Badger baserunners.
• Spring Hill was able to tie the game in the bottom of the eighth on a one out single. With the go-ahead run on third base, Boan's lone delivery of the game was grounded to second and the Warhawk middle-infield battery of Langley and Davis were able to convert the double play to keep the game tied heading to the ninth inning.
•
Curtiss Johnson led off the ninth inning with a single and was followed by a Russell hit by pitch. After Huston Davenport was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Davis drove in Johnson to give Auburn Montgomery the lead once again. A fielder's choice off the bat of Chandler drove in the insurance run the team needed as they headed to the bottom of the ninth with a two run lead.
• Harigel homered for the Badgers with two outs in the bottom of the ninth but ultimately, the Badgers fell to AUM 5-4.
