MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The Auburn Montgomery men's tennis team won its first NCAA Division II match Saturday with a 7-2 win against Young Harris in its season opener at Lagoon Park.
The Warhawks improved to 1-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-1.
AUM secured two points in the doubles portion of the match, when the teams of
Francisco Mendieta and
Alvaro Terron at the No. 2 position and
Santiago Veglia and
Matias Destefanis at the No. 3 spot each picked up victories.
In singles play, Mendieta, Terron, Veglia,
Vincent Dubosclard and
Birkir Gunnarsson each won in straight sets.
The Warhawks will return to action Tuesday, Feb. 7, when they host West Florida at 1 p.m. at Lagoon Park.
