TUSKEGEE, Ala. ----- The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team dropped a 60-49 decision to nearby foe Tuskegee University Tuesday, falling 60-49.
NOTES
• The Warhawks fell to 5-18 on the season.
• The Tigers improved to 6-17 overall.
• The contest marked the first meeting between AUM and Tuskegee since Nov. 27, 1998.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Desmond DeRamus led the Warhawks with 14 points, while adding four rebounds, two steals and an assist.
•
Lafayette James-Core also scored in double figures, chipping in 12 points.
•
Jarett Croff recorded seven points and eight rebounds.

Romoane Eager and
Julius McCoy added seven points apiece.
• James Eads led four Tigers in double figures with 13 points and eight rebounds.
• Myles Thomas (12), Alex Perry (10) and Travis Flagg (10) also scored in double figures.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Warhawks jumped out to a 12-5 lead after a layup by James-Core with 11:49 remaining before halftime. Eager and James-Core keyed the run with four points apiece.
• The Tigers answered with a 13-4 run of their own during the next 7:35 and took an 18-16 lead on a layup by Joshua Culver with 4:14 left in the half.
• AUM scored the next four points, but a bucket by Elijah McMillan with 15 seconds remaining tied the score at 20-20, a mark that proved to be the halftime score.
• The contest remained close in the second half, as a layup by James-Core pulled the Warhawks to within one point, 28-27, with 16:29 remaining.
• The Tigers took control of the contest with a 14-2 run and took a 13-point lead, 42-29, on a basket by Perry with 12:28 left in the contest.
• AUM cut the deficit to as few as eight points, 49-41, following a free throw by Eager with 7:31 remaining, but Tuskegee answered with eight straight points to extend its lead to a game-high 16 points, 57-41, with 4:27 remaining.
• AUM chipped away, but was unable to get closer than the final margin of 11 points.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks converted 18-of-44 shots from the floor, but hit just 13.3 percent of their 3-point attempts. AUM also made 11-of-16 free throws.
• The Tigers finished 23-of-57 from the field, including 7-of-24 from distance. Tuskegee was 7-of-11 from the charity stripe.
• Each team committed 12 turnovers, with Tuskegee holding a 12-10 advantage in points off turnovers.
• The Tigers held a strong 43-28 lead on the glass, including a 14-4 margin on the offensive boards. Tuskegee outscored the Warhawks 12-2 in second-chance points.
• AUM outscored the Tigers 30-26 in the paint.

The Warhawks will return to action on Monday, February 13, when they travel to Middle Georgia State University for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
