MONTGOMERY, Ala. ----- The AUM baseball team took on the #16 NCAA Division II nationally-ranked North Georgia Nighthawks at home on Tuesday and ultimately came out on the losing end, with a final score of 16-0.

• AUM fell to 8-12.
• North Georgia improved to 17-4.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Donovan Chandler notched three hits.

Nathan Langley added a hit, a walk and a stolen base.

John-Mark Cosby went 2-for-4.

Trevor Flynn singled and walked twice.
• Dylan Peppers and Logan Burt each pitched four innings, and both allowed two hits and walked one, while striking out one apiece.
• Conner Hoover and Trevor Sams each hit a home run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Nighthawks opened the floodgates in the top of the third when Hoover hit a solo shot to break the scoreless tie. Gouge then followed with a double. Sams singled in Gouge and the next two hitters each reached base to load the bases. The right fielder Corbitt singled in two to extend the lead to 3-0. Dempsey followed that up with an RBI single to make it 4-0. The next hitter, Perez, singled up the middle to make it 5-0. The Nighthawks scratched across two more before the inning ended to make it 7-0 heading to the bottom of the second.
• North Georgia loaded the bases to kick off the top of the fifth and Gouge drove in the eighth run on a fielder's choice. Gearhart then scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-0.
• Sams homered in the top of the seventh to make it 10-0.
• Sloppy play, including a bases-clearing schoolyard home run pushed five in the top of the eighth, to extend the lead to 15-0.
• A Gearhart sacrifice fly added the final run of the contest in the top of the ninth.
• AUM fell to North Georgia, 16-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM stranded 10 runners on base. The Nighthawks left 13 on the base paths.
• North Georgia committed no errors while the Warhawks had two errors.
UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action Friday, March 17 when they travel to Thomas University. First pitch is currently scheduled for 6 p.m.
