THOMASVILLE, Ga. ----- The AUM baseball team defeated Thomas University on Friday night in the opening game of a three-game road series with a final tally of 10-3. The Warhawks and the Night Hawks will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday.

• AUM improved to 9-12.
• The Night Hawks fell to 11-19.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Nathan Langley singled three times in six attempts on Friday evening, knocking in three runs.
• Hunter Hillyer singled twice and scored twice.
• Tanner Russell reach three times via single, double and walk and drove in one run. He scored twice in the game.
• Junior Garrett Deloney started on the hill, lasting eight innings, striking out three and allowing just one earned run.
• Peguero and Hollingsworth each had two hits for the Night Hawks, with Peguero driving in two
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Returning to the ways of the AUM team of old this season, the Warhawks struck for three in the top of the first. Donovan Chandler reached with a walk and one out in the inning, and Hillyer followed with a single. With two runners on, Russell drove in Chandler to crack the score column. With two outs in the inning, Flynn and Curtiss Johnson each singled to move the lead to 3-0 in favor of the Warhawks.
• The score stayed where it was until the top of the fourth when following singles by Davis and Houston Davenport, Langley singled in Davis to move the score to 4-0.
• The Warhawks improved the lead to 5-0 in the top of the sixth when Cosby doubled in Russell.
• Flynn drew a bases-loaded walk in the top of the eighth to move the lead to 6-0 in favor of Auburn Montgomery. With two outs in the inning, Davis doubled in two to push the score to 8-0. Not to be outdone, Langley followed Davis with a two-run double of his own to push the score to 10-0.
• Hollingsworth homered in the bottom of the eighth to put the Night Hawks on the board.
• Peguero singled in two to bring Thomas within 10-3 in the bottom of the ninth, but the Warhawks won the contest 10-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM stranded 12 runners on base. Thomas left six on the base paths.
• The Night Hawks had two costly errors while the Warhawks did not commit a single defensive lapse.
