LAKE NONA, Fla. ---- The Auburn Montgomery men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to No. 18 North Georgia Tuesday.
The loss dropped the Warhawks to 5-5 on the year, while the Nighthawks improved to 10-1. The contest marked the fourth consecutive loss by AUM against a NCAA Division II top-25 team.
In doubles play, AUM built a 2-1 advantage, following wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively. The sophomore duo of
Santiago Veglia and
Matias Destefanis picked up an 8-4 win at the No. 2 spot, while senior
Francisco Mendieta and freshman
Alvaro Terron teamed for an 8-6 victory at the third position.
In singles, Terron gave the Warhawks its lone point with a 6-3, 7-6 win at the No. 4 spot. Veglia, Destefanis and Mendieta each fell in three sets.
The Warhawks will continue their Florida road trip on Thursday, March 16, with a 10 a.m. contest at Barry University.
