LAKE NONA, Fla. ---- After dropping just its second match of the season yesterday, the Auburn Montgomery women's tennis team bounced back and defeated No. 34 North Georgia 8-1 Tuesday at the USTA Tennis Center.
 
With the win, the Warhawks improved to 9-2 on the season, while the Nighthawks fell to 9-3 on the year.
 
AUM secured a 2-1 advantage following doubles play, earning victories at the final two positions. 
Kelly Southwood and 
Celine Lenertz gained an 8-3 win at the No. 2 spot, while 
Iris Verweij and 
Alejandra Gil scored an 8-5 victory at the No. 3 position.
 
In singles play, Verweij, Lenertz, Gil, 
Paula Diaz and 
Anna Rudolfova rolled to straight-set victories, while Southwood rallied from a first-set defeat for a three-set win.
 
The Warhawks will continue their Florida road trip on Thursday, March 16, with a 2 p.m. contest at Barry University.
