MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- The Auburn Montgomery men's tennis team shut out No. 41 West Alabama 9-0 Wednesday at the AUM Tennis Complex.
With the win, the Warhawks improved to 7-6 on the season, while the Tigers fell to 7-9 on the year.
The Warhawks secured all three doubles points in the contest and took and early 3-0 lead.
Vincent Dubosclard and
Birkir Gunnarsson earned an 8-6 win at the No. 1 position, while
Francisco Mendieta and
Alvaro Terron captured an 8-5 win at the No. 2 spot.
Matias Destefanis and
Santiago Veglia won by default at the No. 3 position.
In singles, Veglia was again a default winner, while Destefanis, Dubosclard, Mendieta, Terron and Gunnarsson all won in straight sets, dropping just a combined 18 games.
The Warhawks will return to action on Friday, March 24, when they travel to Cleveland, Miss., to take on Delta State. First serve is slated for 10 a.m.
