MONTGOMERY, Ala. ------ The Auburn Montgomery baseball team took two wins in a doubleheader on Friday, thanks in large part to some sleepy defense exhibited by Georgia Southwestern. The final scores were 10-6 and 6-2 respectively. The Warhawks will look to complete the sweep on Saturday.
NOTES
• AUM improved to 13-14 on the season.
• The Hurricanes fell to 11-17.
GAME ONE STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Curtiss Johnson went 2-for-4 at the plate, driving in three runs.
•
John-Mark Cosby added three hits in five trips to the plate, scoring all three times. He also swiped a bag.

Tanner Russell and
Brandon Davis each singled twice and drove in a run.
•
Donovan Chandler and
Trevor Flynn both added an RBI.
• Will Redding went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.
GAME TWO STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Davis tallied a two run single late in the game to give the Warhawks some much needed insurance.
• Johnson registered a single and an RBI.

Hank Scott started on the hill, lasting six innings, surrendering two runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out four.

Parker Moman walked twice.
• Redding provided a single that scored two for Georgia Southwestern.
HOW IT HAPPENED in GAME ONE
• The Hurricanes jumped out in front early when Redding singled in Kranick in the top half of the first.
• With two runners on in the bottom of the first, Flynn singled to load the bases. Johnson followed with a two-run single to put the Warhawks in front, 2-1.
Houston Davenport followed with a safety squeeze to push the score to 3-1.
• After AUM loaded the bases in the bottom of the second, Chandler reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Cosby. After Chandler swiped second, Russell singled in Davis to extend the lead. One batter later, Flynn reached on a fielder's choice to make the score 6-1. Johnson concluded matters in the inning by singling to center, scoring Flynn.
• Jones led off the Hurricane half of the fourth by doubling, later scoring on a fielding error.
• Georgia Southwestern led off the next inning with a single. After two outs were made, Patrick stole second to get into scoring position. On a full count, Redding doubled down the line to bring the Hurricanes within four, 7-3.
• With the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, Jones chopped a fielder's choice the first base line, scoring the fourth Hurricane run of the contest.
• The Warhawks added run number 10 in the next frame on a wild pitch.
• Georgia Southwestern added two runs in the top of the eighth, but ultimately could not add anymore in the comeback attempt, dropping the first game, 10-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED in GAME TWO
• Neither team amounted any offense in the first three innings, with the Warhawks not even tallying a hit during that stretch.
• Chandler led off bottom the fourth by singling to right field. After he took second on a passed ball, Flynn walked. Johnson followed with a single that scored Chandler. On the play, a throwing error by the right fielder allowed for Flynn to score easily and the Warhawks gained a 2-0 lead.
• The next inning, Patrick singled with two outs to keep the inning alive. Kranick followed with a single of his own and he was succeeded by Martin drawing a walk on 3-2. With the bases loaded, Redding singled, scoring Patrick and Kranick and the game was tied once again at two.
• Langley scored on a passed ball with two outs in the fifth before Chandler flied out to center and the Warhawks led 3-2.
• With the bases loaded and one down in the bottom of the sixth, Davis singled to center, scoring two to give the Warhawks some much needed insurance. A few batters later, Cosby scored on a fielding error off the bat of Langley and Auburn Montgomery led 6-2 heading into the final frame.
• Kranick singled to lead off the top of the seventh, but that would be all the Hurricanes could achieve as Langley shut the door on Georgia Southwestern and the AUM took the series-clinching victory, 6-2.
INSIDE THE GAME ONE BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks had two errors in the game and Georgia Southwestern committed eight errors.
• AUM left 10 runners on base. The Hurricanes stranded seven.
INSIDE THE GAME TWO BOX SCORE
• AUM did not have any errors in the field and the Hurricanes had five defensive miscues.
• Auburn Montgomery left five runners on base and Georgia Southwestern stranded eight.

The Warhawks go for the sweep tomorrow, Saturday, March 25 when they will conclude the weekend series with Georgia Southwestern. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
