CLEVELAND, Miss. ---- The Auburn Montgomery men's tennis team picked up its third consecutive victory Friday, earning a 6-1 win over future Gulf South Conference foe Delta State at the Cleveland Country Club.
With the win, the Warhawks improved to 8-6 on the season, while the Statesmen fell to 4-6 overall.
AUM took a 2-1 advantage after doubles play, earning wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. At the top spot,
Vincent Dubosclard and
Birkir Gunnarsson captured an 8-5 victory, while
Alvaro Terron and
Francisco Mendieta rolled 8-1.
In singles, the Warhawks clinched the match with four straight-set victories. Mendieta, Terron, Gunnarsson and
Santiago Veglia dropped just nine games en route to sealing the win.
The Warhawks will return to action on Tuesday, March 28, when they host Mississippi College at 1:30 p.m.
