LAWTON, Okla. ---- The No. 30 Auburn Montgomery women's tennis hit the road Friday and collected a 5-0 victory over No. 24 Cameron University at the Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex.
The Warhawks improved to 15-3 on the season and collected their sixth consecutive win. The Aggies fell to 8-8 overall.
AUM secured all three points in the doubles portion of the match, dropping just three games in the two matches completed. At the No. 3 position,
Iris Verweij and
Alejandra Gil captured a win following a retirement by the CU doubles team, while
Paula Diaz and
Anna Rudolfova gained an 8-2 win over the No. 24 tandem of Zhenia Shviadok and Mathilde Thibaudat. At the No. 2 spot,
Kelly Southwood and
Celine Lenertz rolled to an 8-1 victory.
In singles, Verweij picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win to force match point, before Southwood sealed the victory with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over No. 50 Paula Gutierrez.
The Warhawks will return to action on Saturday, April 1, when they travel to Wichita Falls, Texas, to take on No. 15 Midwestern State at 10 a.m.
