MONTGOMERY, Ala. ------ Using a powerful combination of hitting, pitching and defense, the AUM baseball team defeated Tuskegee University on Tuesday evening to even their season record at .500. The final score was 12-4.
NOTES
• Auburn Montgomery improved to 21-21.
• The Golden Tigers fell to 22-20.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Hunter Hillyer set the tone on the hill for the Warhawks in his second start of the season, pitching 5 1/3 innings and allowing just one earned run and striking out two.
•
John-Mark Cosby had two hits including his third home run of the season, along with three total runs batted in.
•
Nathan Langley fell just a triple shy of the cycle while crossing the plate three times, driving in two and swiping a base.
•
Michael Tedford went 3-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI.
•
Donovan Chandler walked twice and was hit by pitch, scoring twice.
•
Curtiss Johnson and
Brandon Davis each had two hits and an RBI.
• Javan Wakefield had a pinch-hit home run for the Golden Tigers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Chandler walked to lead off the bottom half of the first and reached third on a wild pitch. Cosby grounded out to second to drive him in and AUM led 1-0 after one inning.
• In the bottom of the fourth, Langley doubled in Russell to give the Warhawks the lead. A batter later, Davis singled him in to double the lead.
• With one out in the bottom of the fifth, Cosby launched his third home run over the left-center fence to extend the lead to 4-1. After a pair of singles,
Parker Moman singled in another to make it 5-1.
• Tuskegee would strike back in the next half to make it a 5-2 ballgame.
• Davis led off the bottom of the sixth with a double and scored when Tedford dropped down a bunt, and the Golden Tiger third baseman threw the ball away. Later in the inning, Cosby recorded a sacrifice fly and Johnson singled in another run to push the score to 8-2 in favor of the Warhawks.
• In the bottom of the seventh, Langley hit a no-doubter over the left field fence for the ninth run of the contest for AUM.
• The Warhawks would strike for three more runs in the bottom of the eighth, including a
Landon Pruitt sacrifice fly that scored Langley.
• Wakefield led off the top of the ninth with a home run and the Golden Tigers would add another run, but AUM defeated Tuskegee 12-4.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Tuskegee had four errors and AUM did not commit a defensive miscue.
• The Warhawks left 10 runners on base and the Golden Tigers stranded four.

The Warhawks will return to action on Wednesday, April 19 when they will travel to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on the Nighthawks of North Georgia. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
