MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---- Auburn Montgomery head women's cross country coach
Ryan Thompson has announced the addition of Victoria McCurry to the roster for the 2017 season.
McCurry ran cross country and competed in track and field at Auburn High School in Auburn, Ala., where she ran for head coaches Naomi Bergh and Ladextric Oliver.
"Victoria had a stellar senior season and will have an immediate impact," Thompson said. "She is a very talented runner, who we will look to quickly contribute and fill the voids left by
HollyAnn Goble and
Leah Bassow. I am extremely excited to see her progression over the next four years and expect big things from her at AUM."
McCurry ran four seasons of cross country for the Tigers, helping the team to a third-place finish at the 2016 Alabama High School Athletic Association's Class 7A State Championship. At the meet, she finished 26th overall with a personal-best time of 19:35.41. The Tigers finished fourth during her junior season and sixth during her sophomore campaign at the state championship. In addition to running with the AHS cross country and track teams, McCurry also competed in the Fontana Days Half Marathon in Fontana, Calif.
Along with her personal best at the state meet as a senior, McCurry also recorded PR's in the 800m (2:30.88), 1,600m (5:35.8) and indoor 3,200m (12:33.04) and outdoor 3,200m (13.49.06). Additionally, she was a member of the National Honors Society at Auburn High School.
McCurry is currently undecided on a major.
