Volleyball Takes On Tuskegee And Huntingdon In Midweek Doubleheader

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team kicks off a five-match week on Wednesday, Sept. 13 with a doubleheader at Huntingdon College. AUM will take on Tuskegee at 6 p.m. with a match against the hosts at 8 p.m. Admission to the matches is free.

About the Warhawks
AUM (3-2) enters the contest following a 1-0 week, winning the program's first road match with a 3-0 sweep of Albany State. The Warhawks average 10.5 kills per set on a .192 hitting percentage with 12.3 digs, 9.8 assists, 1.5 service aces and 1.2 blocks.
 
Individually, freshman outside hitter Skylar Coppinger leads the offense with 2.73 kills per set, getting the bulk of her passes from junior setter Carly Smart who's dishing out 6.73 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Haley Toler paces the defense with 3.47 digs per set with junior middle blocker Brianna Garvin averages 0.60 blocks at the net. At the service line, sophomore defensive specialist Kiana Yangson sparks the Warhawks with 0.40 aces per set.
 
About the Golden Tigers
Tuskegee (0-4) enters the midweek doubleheader well rested with no matches last week. The Golden Tigers average 6.3 kills on a -.038 clip with 9.6 digs, 5.7 assists, 0.8 service aces and 0.7 blocks.
 
Cyrani Butler leads Tuskegee with 1.67 kills per set, 2.42 digs and 0.25 service aces. Embrey Johnson quarterbacks the offense with a team-high 4.89 assists while SeQueena Baldwin blocks a team-best 0.40 per set.
 
About the Hawks
Huntingdon (2-5) welcomes AUM and Tuskegee after a 2-2 weekend, winning their final match of the week. The Hawks average 10.65 kills per set on a .163 clip with 10.58 digs, 8.77 assists, 1.73 service aces and 1.42 blocks.
 
The Hawks offense runs through Bria Rochelle and Amy Tyma, who each average 2.24 kills with Kaitlyn Carter chipping in a team-best 4.32 assists per set. Defensively, Shelby Young leads Huntingdon with 2.88 digs per set while Addison Genard posts 0.90 blocks.

Following the midweek bouts, AUM sees the court again on Friday, September 15 when the Warhawks begin play in the UNA Classic against the hosts at 3 p.m. The Warhawks continue play in the classic on Saturday with matches against Dillard and Union on Saturday at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., respectively.
