Inamahoro Breaks Record as Women's Cross Country Places Eighth at Asheville Invitational

ASHEVILLE, N.C. ---- Junior Benisse Inamahoro set a school record at the Asheville CC Invitational Saturday morning. Behind Inamahoro's record setting two-mile time, the Warhawks finished eight overall. 

NOTES
• A total of 11 teams competed in the meet.
• 93 runners raced in the competition.
• Wofford's Hannah Steelman was the first runner to cross the finish line, recording a time of 10:51.21. She finished 46 seconds faster than the second-place runner.

INDIVIDUAL FINISHES
 

• Inamahoro was the first to finish for AUM, recording a time of 12:45.98 to finish 29th overall. The time was the fastest two-mile time in AUM history.
• Senior Katelynn Burns placed 38th overall with a time of 13:07.30. Her time was good for the third-fastest in school history.

• Junior Ansley Story finished 50th posting a time of 13:18.11.
• Junior Tanishya Jones was the next Warhawk to finish with a time of 13:25.92, placing 56th overall.

• Freshman Victoria McCurry finished 61st in the field, recording a time of 13:40.63.
• Senior Kelly Dawson placed 67th with her time of 13:55.16

• Senior Brooke Schultz rounded out the scoring for the Warhawks, finishing 80th overall with a time of 14:39.27.


TEAM FINISHES
• Wofford earned the team title with just 45 points as a team. Terrier runners averaged a time of 11:49.34.
• AUM finished eighth out of 11 teams competing in the meet. The Warhawks finished ahead of Montreat, Presbyterian College and Warren Wilson College.


QUOTING THE COACH
"Our teams are really tired after running four weeks in a row," head coach Ryan Thompson said. "With that being said, I am extremely proud of the way we ran. Benisse wasn't feeling her best today, but still went out there and ran really well for us."

The Warhawks will return to action on Friday, Oct. 6 when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to compete in the FSU Invitational.?
