Volleyball Heads To Albany State For Road Match

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team makes its first trip to the Peach State on Thursday, Sept. 7, when the Warhawks take on Albany State at 5 p.m.

About the Warhawks
AUM enters the contest following a 2-2 outing in the program's first weekend, claiming both its victories via 3-0 sweeps. The Warhawks average 10.2 kills per set on a .168 hitting percentage with 12.1 digs, 9.5 assists, 1.6 service aces and 1.0 blocks.
 
Individually, freshman outside hitter Skylar Coppinger leads the offense with 2.75 kills per set, getting the bulk of her feeds from junior setter Carly Smart who's dishing out 6.42 assists. Sophomore defensive specialist Haley Toler's paces the defense with 3.50 digs while junior middle blocker Keara Scott averages 0.75 blocks. At the service line, both Coppinger and sophomore defensive specialist Kiana Yangson average 0.42 aces per set.
 
About the Golden Rams
Albany State has yet to take the court this season. SIAC Preseason All-Conference selections Brittani Philips and Jahkishma Soto will likely lead a Golden Rams team that was picked to finish fourth in the SIAC East Division.
 
Quoting the Coach
"I think we are going to see a really talented team," head coach Melissa Robinson said of Albany State. "They play very hard and will be aggressive. We are going to have to keep ourselves grounded against Albany State. We are going to have to communicate, give our all and go back to the fundamentals if we want to leave Albany with a victory."
 
Up Next
Following the Thursday bout, the Warhawks are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 13 when they play a doubleheader at Huntington. AUM will take on Tuskegee at 6 p.m. with a match against the hosts at 8 p.m.
