Desmond DeRamus chipped in an additional 20, but the Warhawks could not overcome a hot-shooting Union squad on Thursday evening as Auburn Montgomery fell to the Bulldogs, 80-77, in Gulf South Conference men's basketball action.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM jumped out to an early advantage, going up 23-13 on a
Michael Bryant 3-pointer with 12:00 to play in the first.
• James-Core would push the Warhawk advantage to 11 at the 9:38 mark, hitting a trey to give AUM a 28-17 lead.
• The Bulldogs would rally from the early deficit, finishing the frame on a 25-7 run to take a 42-35 lead into the break.
• Union would push its lead to 14 at 51-37 with 17:19 to play on a Nick Velasquez 3-pointer.
• The Warhawks would claw their way back to within four of the Bulldogs, going on an 18-8 run to pull the score to 59-55 with 11:03 on the clock.
• The Bulldogs would pull away from AUM over the next eight minutes, going up 75-65 with 3:26 to play.
• AUM would finish the game on a 12-5 run, but would run out of time as Union would earn the 80-77 victory.

The Warhawks will next be in action Tuesday, Jan. 9, when they take travel to West Georgia in GSC play beginning at 6:30 p.m. This will be the first of two contests this season between the Wolves and Warhawks, with the two teams closing out the regular season on Feb. 22 at the AUM Gymnasium.
