Women’s Soccer Travels to Montevallo Sunday for GSC Matchup

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team will square off with the Falcons of Montevallo University on Sunday, Oct. 14 from Montevallo, Ala. in Gulf South Conference action.

About the Warhawks 
AUM (2-8, 2-6 GSC) takes on Montevallo this weekend in GSC action, having fallen 4-2 at Alabama Huntsville their last time out. Junior striker Ruby Mendez was responsible for both of the Warhawks goals in the setback. 
 
Mendez currently leads the charge offensively for AUM in 2018, with 26 points accumulated and 12 goals netted. Mendez currently ranks second in the GSC in both points and goals.
 
As a unit, the Warhawks are currently averaging two goal per contest thorough 10 matches played, including multiple-goal efforts in seven of their 10 contests in 2018. Mayson Jaindl (3) and Allison Singleterry (2) both have accounted for multiple goals scored on the season.
 
In the assist stat column, Melissa Fernandez leads AUM with three in 2018. Mendez and Stella Mazzillo both have notched a pair of assists on the season, while Jaindl, Singleterry, Fabiana Alborghetti, Allison McCrimon, Julia Simoes, Ariel Jones, Tonie Sledz and Peyton Poe have all chipped on for an assist on the year.
 
In goal, Dejon Fletcher and Felicia Wester have both seen significant playing time for AUM, with Fletcher logging a team-best 654 minutes and notching a team-high 42 saves between the posts.
 
The Warhawks will look to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Falcons in 2017, who hold a 5-2-1 advantage over AUM in their series history.
 
About the Falcons
In their most recent work, Montevallo defeated UAH 7-0 on Friday, Oct. 5 and fell to West Alabama on Sunday, Oct. 7 last weekend on their GSC road trip.
 
The Falcons are averaging 1.92 goals per match on the year, having scored 23 though 12 contests. Romee Contreras leads the Falcon attack with five goals scored, while Allye Darnell and Medhali Herandez both sit second on the team with four goals sored. Contreras and Michaila Franklin both lead the way with three assists for the Falcons.
 
On the defensive side of the ball, the Falcons have surrendered 17 goals on the year, for a pace of 1.42 per match. Annie Mason and Judith Perez-Bayon have both seen playing time between the posts for Montevallo, with Mason's 653 minutes in goal serving as the team high, compared to Perez-Bayon's 470. Mason boasts a 1.65 GAA, while Perez-Bayou holds a GAA of 0.96.
