CENTRE, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team battled Division-I foe Jacksonville State tough on Thursday, Nov. 1, but a late third-quarter surge from the Gamecocks would help propel them to a 66-42 exhibition win over the Warhawks.

- With renovations currently being done to Pete Mathews Coliseum, the Gamecocks' home court, Thursday's exhibition took place at the Cherokee Center and Arena on the campus of Gadsden State Community College in Centre, Ala.
Standout Performers
- Morales led the way offensively for AUM, with a team-best 12 points on the night on a 5-15 shooting performance. The junior forward also led AUM with four blocked shots on the evening.
- Senior
Evelina Avleeva pulled down a team-high nine rebounds in the game, to go along with eight points scored.

Aaliyah Milord added five points, with seven rebounds. Milord led the Warhawks from the free throw line in the contest, putting together a 5-6 night from charity stripe.
- Brewster shot 50 percent (3-6) from beyond the arc on the night, while adding three rebounds.

Makaylla Bullard posted a team-high two assists, while adding six points on a pair of three-pointers.
How it Happened
- The Gamecocks jumped out to a 6-2 lead through the first four minutes of play in the first quarter, as AUM would draw to within one possession several times throughout the opening 10 minutes, but would trail 13-8 following the completion of quarter number one.
- JSU would open up their lead in the second quarter, with an 8-0 scoring run to begin the quarter that saw AUM shoot 25 percent from the floor and the Gamecocks shoot 40 percent.
- The Warhawks would put together a 5-0 run in the final minutes of the second quarter to cut their deficit to 29-21 at the half.
- Quarter number three would see AUM shoot a game-high 36 percent from the field. The Warhawks cut their deficit to six points on a three-pointer from Bullard with 5:17 in the quarter, but the Gamecocks would put together a 10-0 run following Bullard's trey to give them a 46-30 advantage at quarter's end.
- AUM matched their third-quarter field goal tally in the fourth, going 4-13 from the field. The Gamecocks, however, would register a game-high 20 points in the quarter to give way to the final score of 66-42.
Quoting the Coach
"I thought we did a good job for three and a half quarters against a really good D-I team," Page said. 'Their depth and our lack of depth showed in the last quarter. A lot of positives came out of the game, though. We discovered a lot of things we need to do to help us get better."
Inside the Boxsore
- AUM went 14-49 (29%) from the field on the night, while going 5-19 (26%) from the three-point line and 9-13 (69%) from the free throw line.
- The Warhawks grabbed 36 rebounds on the night, compared to 41 from the Gamecocks, while accounting for 12 points in the paint.
- The Warhawks totaled five points off of eight JSU turnovers, while also tallying three second chance points.

- AUM will now set their sights to regular-season. The Warhawks open up their 2018-19 campaign on the road, with a pair of games against SIAC opponents in Montevallo, Ala. as part of the GSC/SIAC Challenge, hosted by the University of Montevallo. The Warhawks face off against Tuskegee on Friday, Nov. 9 and take on Spring Hill College on Saturday, Nov. 10.
