Spring Hill Outlasts AUM For 111-105 Victory

MOBILE, Ala. – Five players scored in double figures for the Warhawks including two players that reached the 20-point plateau but Auburn Montgomery dropped its fourth game in a row on Tuesday evening, falling to Spring Hill College 111-105 on the road in men's basketball action.
 
NOTES
• AUM falls to 4-6 on the season overall and 2-2 in road games.
• SHC improves to 4-4 this season and 2-0 at home.
• The Badgers avenge a 72-58 setback to the Warhawks on Nov. 25 at the AUM Gymnasium.
• The Warhawks are now 27-22 lifetime against SHC.
• Tonight marked the first game this season that AUM reached the 100-point mark. The last time the Warhawks scored 100 points was on Jan. 9 of last season in a 103-100 setback to West Georgia.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior guard Tre Hansbrough scored a career-high 24 points for the Warhawks, adding four assists in the contest.
• Junior center/forward Aaron Reddick scored a career-best 20 points, finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with nine. Reddick also tallied three steals and a block.
• Junior guards Carlos Bell and Darrion Taylor each tallied 15 points for the Warhawks, with Taylor tallying a team-high five assists for AUM.
• Junior guard Devorious Brown tallied a season-high 11 points in the contest.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The two teams traded the lead back and forth in the early goings of the contest before AUM was able to take a 23-12 led with 12:24 to play in the first on a Hansbrough trey. Over the next five minutes the Warhawks were able to keep SHC at bay, going up 34-21 with 8:24 left on the clock on a Reddick bucket in the paint.
• The Warhawks would go up 43-30 on a Bell layup at the 5:54 mark, before an 11-0 run by the Badgers over the next two minutes cut AUM's lead to 43-41 with 4:02 to play. Over the final four minutes SHC outscored the Orange & Black 11-9 as the two teams went into halftime tied at 52-52.
• The second half saw the two teams trade the lead back and forth once again, with AUM garnering a 70-63 lead on a Hansbrough trey with 13:27 to go. SCH would rally to tie the game at 73-73 with 11:46 to play before taking a 76-73 lead on a 3-pointer with 11 minutes to play.
• SHC would push its lead to 88-80 with 7:45 left on the clock before AUM went on a 13-3 run to go up 93-91 on a Brown bucket in the paint with 4:37 to play. Once again the two teams would trade the lead back and forth until Reddick tied the game up for AUM at 104-104 with 1:06 to play.
• The Badgers would outscore AUM 7-to-1 over the final minute to earn the 111-105 victory.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• SHC won the rebounding battle, 38-32.
• The Badgers converted 32-of-36 free throws, while AUM converted 15-of-18.
• The game featured 15 tie scores and 12 lead changes.
• AUM converted 41-of-72 field goals while the Badgers converted 33-of-68.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will travel to Jackson, Tenn., to take on Gulf South Conference foe Union University on Thursday, Dec. 13. Opening tip is set for 7:30 p.m.
