MEMPHIS, Tenn. –The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team trailed Christian Brothers University by just three points with 9:24 left to play, but a 14-5 run by the Lady Bucs to finish out the game proved to be the difference maker in the Warhawk's 55-43 Gulf South Conference loss on Saturday, Dec. 15.

Standout Performers

Evelina Avleeva notched her second double-double in three games for AUM, with a team-high 17 points and game-high 12 rebounds. The senior forward also grabbed a team-high two steals and distributed two assists.

Victoria Morales matched a season-high with 12 points, while finishing just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine. Morales also added a team-high three blocks and two assists.

Aaliyah Milord dished out a game-high five assists, while pulling down four rebounds and scoring three points.

Bailee Wolfe added six points, with one steal for the Warhawks.
How it Happened
- The Warhawks jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the first three minutes of the first quarter, with a three-pointer from
Jordan Brewster at the 5:57 mark that gave AUM a 9-2 lead.
- AUM added another 6-2 run in the quarter from the 5:38 to the 4:08 mark, to take their largest lead of the quarter at 15-7.
- Christian Brothers would battle back, however, and finish the quarter on a 9-1 scoring run to see the score tied at 16-all through the first 10 minutes.
- The second quarter saw both teams take a step back offensively, with the Lady Bucs scoring nine and the Warhawks scoring four through the first four and half minutes of the quarter.
- Christian Brothers would rattle off an 8-0 scoring run from the 6:39 to the 2:28 mark, to take their largest lead of the half at 29-20. AUM would respond with a 5-0 run to close out the quarter, including a last-second jump shot from the free-throw line by Brewster to bring AUM's deficit to just four at the break.
- It was Wolfe that got the Warhawks on the board first in the second half, with a layup at the 9:18 mark in the third quarter to cut AUM's deficit to two at 29-27.
- The next five minutes of action saw both teams' offensive production slow down, as the Warhawks would take a 32-30 lead at the 3:54 mark after a pair of successful free throws from Morales and one from Milord.
- The Lady Bucs would respond with a 9-2 run from the 3:53 to the 0:54 mark in the period to go up 39-34, while taking a 41-36 lead with them at quarter's end.
- Avleeva would score the first two points of the fourth quarter, to bring AUM's deficit to just one possession at 41-38 with 9:24 to play.
- Trailing by just five, the Warhawks allowed a pair of three-pointers at the 7:55 and 6:33 marks from the Lady Bucs that spearheaded an offensive jolting, and gave them enough breathing room to finish with a comfortable 55-43 lead for the win over AUM.

"I'm extremely disappointed that we weren't able to have a better second half," Head Coach
Sean Page said. "I thought we played well in the first half. Once again, though, a lack of focus and discipline kept us from being able to execute down the stretch. As a coach, I've got to do a better job of preparing the team, and I've got to do a better job of coaching us during games to give us a chance to win."

- The dagger that was the Lady Bucs' 14-5 run in the waning minutes of the fourth quarter began at the 8:33 mark, and saw Christian Brothers shoot 4-9 from the floor, 3-6 from the three-point line and 3-4 from the charity stripe. The Warhawks shot just 2-7 from the floor over that time period, while going 0-2 from beyond the arc and 1-2 from the free-throw line.
