FLORENCE, Ala. – Playing in their final road contest of the 2017-18 season the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team dropped an 89-69 decision to Gulf South Conference foe North Alabama on Wednesday evening at Flowers Hall, as the Lions avenged a 96-89 loss to the Warhawks earlier this season.
 
NOTES
• AUM drops to 9-17 on the season, with a 5-13 mark in GSC play.
• UNA is now 14-11 this year and 9-9 in league action.
• The Warhawks are now 4-5 lifetime against the Lions.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior guard Reagan Eubanks scored a team-high 16 points for AUM while pulling down five rebounds.
• Junior guard Desmond DeRamus tallied 12 points to go along with a team-high in rebounds with six and a team-high in assists with four.
• UNA's Tavaras Tolliver scored a game-high 21 points, with teammate Kendall Stafford scoring 20 for the Lions.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• North Alabama took an early lead but junior guard Kenneth Keith nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game at 15-15 with 12:51 to go in the first.
• DeRamus would give AUM its first lead at the 10:48 mark with a jumper that put the Warhawks up 19-17.
• The two teams would trade the lead back and forth over the next five minutes before DeRamus hit a trey that sparked a 6-2 run as the Warhawks took a 41-38 lead into the break.
• Stafford tied the game for UNA on the first bucket of the second half, draining a three to tie the game at 41-41.
• The Lions would build a small lead but AUM would tie the game at 53-53 on a DeRamus free throw shot with 13:34 to play.
• UNA then went on a 20-8 run over the next eight minutes to take a 73-61 lead with 5:25 on the clock.
• The Lions would pull away from the Warhawks in the end, finishing the contest on a 16-8 run to earn the 89-69 victory.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• UNA outrebounded AUM 42-33.
• Both teams converted six 3-pointers.
• The game featured six lead changes and four tie scores.
• The Lions outscored AUM 54-32 in the paint.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will host Christian Brothers on Saturday in GSC play at the AUM Gymnasium. AUM defeated CBU on Jan. 2, 77-68, when the Buccaneers were ranked No. 5 in the country. It will be senior day for the Warhawks, who will honor Jarett Croff, Reagan Eubanks, Chandler Ferguson, Kameron Hornbuckle, Marcus Jackson and Lafayette James-Core prior to tipoff at 4 p.m.
