Morgan Duschell roped a single to centerfield to score
Gracie Harris, giving the Auburn Montgomery softball team a 2-1 extra inning walkoff victory over Union University as part of the 2018 GSC Opening Weekend Festival.
NOTES
• AUM improves to 5-1 on the season overall with a 2-0 mark in league play.
• MC falls to 4-4 and 1-1 in the GSC.
• Michealyn Foster (2-1) was credited with the victory for AUM while Gabby Morris (2-2) was saddled with the loss in relief.
• The Warhawks are now 1-1 on the season in extra inning games.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Duschell went 1-for-2 on the day with the game-winning run batted in for AUM.
• Catcher
Abby Krueger was 1-for-3 at the plate, with an RBI.
• Leftfielder
Kalee Sparks went 2-for-4 offensively for the Warhawks.
• Foster tossed all nine innings for the Warhawks, allowing one run on five hits with two strikeouts and three walks. She faced 35 batters on the day, holding the Bulldogs hitless over the final four innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• With runners at first and second in the top of the fourth, Union's Peyton Mathis singled to drive in a run and give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage.
• AUM was able to manufacture a run in the bottom of the sixth to force the tie when Krueger singled to rightfield to score
Hannah Dailey from third to make it a 1-1 game.
• The Warhawks almost won the game in the bottom of the seventh, but Harris was thrown out at home trying to score from second to end the frame.
• Union was able to get their leadoff runner all the way to third in the top of the eighth, but AUM was able to force a ground out to end the inning and the threat.
• With Harris on second and two outs on the board, Duschell came in to pinch hit and delivered the game-winning single to center as Harris was able to score on the play this time around.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• There were no extra base hits by either team.
• AUM tallied three steals to just one for Union.
• The Warhawks recorded six hits while the Bulldogs tallied five.
• No Errors were committed in the contest.

The Warhawks will close out the GSC Festival tomorrow with North Alabama at 2:30 p.m. Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Ala.
