MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery claimed its second-consecutive Gulf South Conference series victory on Friday afternoon, besting the visiting Valdosta State 6-4 in the first game of the doubleheader before suffering a 5-2 setback in the three-game series finale.
NOTES
• AUM moves to 11-12 overall, 4-8 in Gulf South Conference play.
• Valdosta State moves to 10-15 overall, 4-8 in GSC action.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS (GAME 1)
• Junior third baseman
Jonathan Brandt went 2-4 with his fourth home run of the campaign and two runs scored.
• Senior shortstop
Nathan Langley went 2-4 at the plate to go with three strikeouts in 1.0 innings of relief on the mound with two runs allowed.
• Senior catcher
Parker Moman went 1-4 with his first home run of the season and three RBI.
• Sophomore designated hitter
Hunter Hillyer went 2-4.
• Redshirt sophomore right-handed pitcher
Hank Scott (4-2) got the start on the mound, logging 8.0 innings with two runs allowed off nine hits and six strikeouts in the winning-effort.
• For Valdosta State, Nick Koslowski went 3-4 in the batter's box while Logan Dubbe (1-3) went 7.0 innings with four runs, two earned, allowed off six hits with three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1)
• With two outs in the bottom of the first, Brandt and Hillyer connected on back-to-back singles with a fielding error by VSU allowing Brandt to score and give AUM an early 1-0 edge.
• Valdosta State tied the score in the top of the second off a solo home run from BJ White, making it 1-1.
• The visitors took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third with their second home run in as many innings, this one from Kendall Herron.
• AUM knotted the score in the bottom of the seventh, getting junior second baseman
Harrison Morris on base via a hit by pitch and rounding the bases on a pair of Blazers' errors to make it 2-all.
• Off a solo home run from Brandt and three-run homer from Moman with senior first baseman
Curtiss Johnson and junior left fielder
Josh Flowers scoring with the senior in the bottom of the eighth, AUM went into the final inning holding a 6-2 advantage.
• The Blazzers scored two runs on a home run from O'Kevius Conway with one out, but Langley retired the ensuing two batters to end the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 1)
• AUM tallied eights hits while Valdosta State had 11.
• The Warhawks left six runners on base, VSU stranded seven.
• Valdosta State recording five errors.

• Johnson went 2-3 at the plate with a RBI and walk.

Donovan Chandler went 2-4 with a walk.
• Junior right-handed pitcher
Chase Gunter (0-2) got the start in game three, allowing three runs off six hits with three strikeouts.
• For Valdosta State, Dalton Murray went 3-3 with a triple and three RBI while Cooper Cain (2-1) got the win after holding AUM to two runs off four hits in 6.0 innings with 10 strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2)
• Leading off the bottom of the first with Chandler and Langley reaching base via a single and walk, a single from Johnson and groundout for Flowers allowed both Warhawks to score and give AUM an early 2-0 lead.
• VSU loading the bases with no outs in the top of the third off three-consecutive singles, using a triple from Murray to send all three Blazers home and propel the visitors to a 3-2 advantage.
• Valdosta State added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth off a double from Elias Macias and single from Blake Seely to take a 5-2 lead.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE (GAME 2)
• AUM tallied six hits while Valdosta State had 11.
• The Warhawks left 10 runners on base, VSU stranded six.
• Valdosta State recorded the lone erros.
