MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's tennis team, currently ranked No. 22 nationally and No. 7 in the South region, took down Gulf South Conference opponent North Alabama on Friday afternoon, earning a 5-4 victory at the AUM Tennis Complex in league play.
MATCH NOTES
• AUM improves to 3-2 on the year with a 3-1 mark in GSC play.
• UNA falls to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in league action.
• The Lions started the season ranked No. 9 in the South region.

"It was a great match from the men today," said head coach
Yair Banuelos. "We have been facing some tough obstacles this season and today we came together as a strong, unified team. We played solid doubles with high intensity and that gave us confidence going into singles. I am proud of how we battled at each spot. We'll use this win as a confidence boost for our match tomorrow."

• No. 4 Singles:
Santiago Veglia defeated Luca Cirenza 6-3, 6-0.
• No. 5 Singles: Cade Reasons defeated
Giovanni Bellio 6-1, 6-7, 6-4.
• No. 6 Singles: George Markos won by default.
• No. 1 Doubles: Jimenez and Terron defeated Garcia and Racine 8-2.
• No. 2 Doubles: Straker-Meads and Veglia defeated Pimenta and Reasons 8-1.
• No. 3 Doubles: Cirenza and Gustavo Girao won by default.
UP NEXT
Both the women's and men's squads will have a quick turnaround, traveling to Pensacola, Fla., to take on West Florida in a dual match on Saturday afternoon. The Argonaut men are currently ranked No. 1 nationally with a record of 7-1 and a 4-0 mark in league play.
