Gracie Poe Named AUM Army ROTC Athletic Achievement Award Recipient

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Auburn Montgomery softball student-athlete Gracie Poe was named the fourth AUM Army ROTC Athletic Achievement Award winner of the spring semester, it was announced on Thursday.

This award is presented to a student-athlete certified for eligibility and involved in a varsity sport that contributes to their team's success through their individual leadership skills, their commitment to teamwork, their extra effort during practice and their demonstration of sportsmanship. Additional contributing factors include academic success, character and exemplary community outreach, as well as athletics performance during the previous two weeks.

Poe, a freshman from Hartselle, Ala., went 3-10 at the plate during the two-week period with one RBI and 17 putouts in the field.

Outside of competition, Poe has been involved with the Sheriff Department Toy Drive, Make-A-Wish Softball Camp, Montgomery Area Food Bank and Fan Day at the Eastdale Mall. The chemistry major is in the Honors Program at AUM and sports a 4.0 GPA.

The softball team travels to Montevallo for a three game Gulf South Conference series against the Falcons, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, March 30 starting at 1 p.m. with a single game the following day at 12 p.m.
