DELONEGA, Ga. – The Auburn Montgomery baseball team played its final midweek contest of the 2018 season on Wednesday evening at the University of North Georgia, falling to the host Nighthawks 7-1.
NOTES
• AUM falls to 20-27 overall.
• North Georgia improves to 28-16.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior center fielder
Donovan Chandler went 2-5.
• Junior second baseman
Logan Nix went 1-5 with a RBI.
• Junior third baseman
Jonathan Brandt went 1-4 with a run scored.
• Junior righty
Josh Flowers got the loss on the mound after allowing six runs, four earned, over 3.0 innings with three walks and two strikeouts in the start.
• For North Georgia, Andres Perez and Nick Clarno both went 2-3 with a home rin.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Highlighted by a two-run homer from Perez, North Georgia took an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
• The Nighthawks hit their second home run of the contest in the bottom of the third, a two-run shot from Clarno, to extent the separation to 6-0.
• Leading off the top of the fifth with a single, Brandt put AUM on the scoreboard off a single from Nix to make it 6-1.
• North Georgia added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, using a single from Chase Sudduth to score William Mapes and create a 7-1 score.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM had nine hits, North Georgia posted 10.
• AUM left 10 runners on base, the Nighthawks stranded seven.
• AUM recorded three errors.
