Softball To Close Out Season With West Georgia

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery softball team will close out the season against Gulf South Conference foe West Georgia this weekend, playing a doubleheader on Saturday before a single game on Sunday to finish out the 2018 campaign.

About the Warhawks
AUM is 27-15 on the season with a 17-13 record in the GSC. The Warhawks are coming off of a three game sweep of league opponent Christian Brothers this past weekend, earning a game one 7-1 victory on Friday before sweeping Saturday's doubleheader 3-2 and 10-2 (6 Innings).
 
The Warhawks are now 15-6 at home, 7-7 in road games and 5-2 at neutral sites. AUM has won five of six contests and are looking to reach 30 wins for the first time since the 2016 season (53-8). Sophomore Jaycie Walker leads the team in batting average with a mark of .376 with a team-high slugging percentage of .692.
 
Senior Kalee Sparks leads the team in hits with 46 and in runs batted in with 24. Sparks is also batting .357 giving the Warhawks five players over the .300 mark this season.
 
Freshman Michaelyn Foster leads the team in earned run average with a mark of 1.81 while amassing a 7-2 record this season. Sophomore Chanel Newcomer leads the Warhawks in strikeouts with 97 on the season, and is looking to become the first AUM player to reach triple digits in K's since 2016.
 
About the Wolves
UWG is 24-25 on the season with a 9-21 record in league play. The Wolves are coming off of a three game sweep at Lee, falling 11-2, 11-3 and 7-6 in Cleveland, Tenn. UWG is 1-11 in its last dozen conference games, with doubleheader sweeps of non-conference foe Augusta University and Miles College during that span.
 
The Wolves boast six players with over a .300 batting average, with Alley Taylor leading the way with a mark of .394. Taylor leads the team in hits (54), stolen bases (33) and total bases (82). Sydney Smith leads the Wolves in RBI with 37 this season.
 
Katie Foote leads the team in K's with 68 over 29 appearances this season. Foote is 9-7 on the year with a 3.54 ERA.

The Warhawks will head into the offseason after this weekend's contests, as they continue their transition to the NCAA Division II level.
